Are You A Good Ambassador?

Here’s a thought: As you live life, whatever that looks like for you, you undoubtedly interact with people, at least on some level, no matter how small that may be. When you do, what goes through your mind? What is it that motivates your interaction with them? Is it selfish? Self-less? Something else? Do you know what it truly means to look at them the same way God does? To interact with them the same way Christ would? Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians that we Christians are Christ’s ambassadors – that it’s as if God were trying to communicate with the rest of humanity through us and our actions. We’re his representatives! Are you doing a good job living that out? It’s easy to interact positively with those with whom you are comfortable. But is God calling you higher? What are you uncomfortable doing? Do you think God wants you to do the uncomfortable? It may be just as simple as smiling and saying hi – genuinely – to someone in the store that you pass by, someone that you can just tell doesn’t look like they are having the best day ever. It might be not snapping back at a friend when they do or say something that is completely hurtful to you. There are so many more examples. What do you think?

What would it look like if you asked God, every day, to be filled with the Holy Spirit? If you asked for this in order that you might view people in an entirely different way than you have before – through Christ’s eyes. Do you want to make a change in someone else’s life? Even if you never knew the effects of your actions in this life, would you still be willing to follow the Holy Spirit’s lead? I encourage you, ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. Ask for the Spirit to help you be open to see those times when you can be used to be an ambassador of Christ. And ask Him to give you the courage to step out, to take that leap of faith, and DO whatever He’s telling you to do. Even if it seems almost pointless, or if you don’t think it would make much of a difference, or you feel silly doing it. Those are all excuses and lies that Satan tries to get you to believe with so that your mission as Christ’s ambassador will be thwarted. Try starting with something simple. Whatever it is, ask God to show you what He wants you to do. He wants to work powerfully through YOU! Will you let Him?
